Based on the north-easterly outskirts of the city, Brussels Airport Zaventem (BRU) offers plenty of ground transportation and connections to the Belgian capital.
Brussels Airport Zaventem features a selection of taxis buses and shuttles, whilst also boasting access to the capital train network. Close by, ground transport also connects suburbs such as Anderlecht, Beersel, Dilbeek, Linkebeek, Merchtem, Overijse, Rixensart, Tervuren, Vilvoorde and Wavre.
Trains
Located underneath the main terminal building, on the lower level, the railway station provides a fast and direct route into Brussels city centre. Operated by Airport City Express, the train runs every 10 to 30 minutes throughout the day and early night, with an overall journey time of just 20 minutes.
The airport's trains travel to the three main railway stations in Brussels - the Gare Centrale, Gare du Nord and Gare du Midi. There are also trains that run to areas outside of Brussels, including the De Panne, Gent, Quévy and the north coast. SNCB / NMBS is the main Belgian national railway service.
Buses
Brussels Airport Zaventem is served by many regular public buses, reaching the city centre in around 30 to 45 minutes. The bus station is sited beneath the arrivals hall, with buses operating from 07:00 to 20:00. Most buses terminate at the main Brussels / Luxembourg railway station.
- De Lijn buses - travelling to the city centre every 45 minutes, with a number of stops in surrounding areas
- MIVB / STIB Express Buses - travelling to the city centre and also to NATO, the European Commission
Coaches are also available at Zaventem (BRU) and run throughout the day, travelling further afield to other European cities such as Antwerp, Eindhoven, Liege and Valenciennes. This coach services run throughout the day and the journey times vary greatly, depending upon the destination.
Hotel Shuttle
Many city hotels also offer a door-to-door courtesy service for their guests. These shuttles pick-up and drop-off guests at level 0 of the coach park (platform E).
Taxi Cabs
By taxi, the journey from Zaventem Airport into central Brussels will last 25 minutes or thereabouts, depending on traffic. License taxis are also available from outside the arrivals hall, being easy to identify by their distinctive yellow and blue logo. Taxis are provided by Henriks and private cars by Toc Toc, while chauffeured vehicles can be organised by Direct Way.
