The recently re-branded Brussels Airport Zaventem (BRU) proudly markets itself as a gateway into the very heart of Europe and lies next to the municipalities of Brucargo, Melsbroek, Nossegem, Steenokkerzeel and also Zaventem. Brussels Airport is approximately 12 km / 7.5 miles north-east of the city centre and handles in the region of 19 million passengers yearly.
Ground transport at Brussels Airport is more than comprehensive and connects many of the city's most popular and interesting districts, such as Anderlecht, Ixelles, Place Rogier, the famous Red Light District and also De Broukère, which is known as the city's entertainment centre.
The bus station features three platforms and handles buses operated by De Lijn and MIVB/STIB, along with both Antwerp Express and Brussels Airport Express coaches. Trains are also on hand and run to the city's Central, Midi and North railway stations, while taxis, limos and shuttles complete the main choices.
